What is cronuts donuts?

Cronuts are a croissant-doughnut hybrid pastry that was invented by pastry chef Dominique Ansel in New York City in 2013. They have a flaky, buttery croissant-like texture on the inside, and a crisp, fried doughnut-like exterior.

The cronut craze quickly took off, with long lines forming outside the bakery where they were first sold. The popularity of cronuts soon spread worldwide, with bakeries and cafés in cities around the globe offering their own versions of the pastry. Cronuts have been featured on TV shows and other media, and they remain a popular dessert item.

While cronuts are sometimes compared to doughnuts, they are a unique pastry in their own right. They are made by laminating croissant dough with butter and then rolling and cutting the dough into doughnut-shaped circles. The cronuts are then fried until golden brown and topped with glaze, frosting, or other sweet toppings.
